Periodontal Pockets Treatment

Processing of periodontal pockets is a therapeutic procedure that serves to remove all pathologically modified periodontal tissues. When parodontopathy progresses without treatment, periodontal pockets start to develop. Periodontal pockets are pathological changes, shaped like pockets, formed by worsening of gingivitis due to destruction of periodontal tissues. If periodontal pockets are evident, after basic treatment (cleaning and polishing) we commence elimination or substantial reduction of the same. Depending on location and other characteristics of periodontal pockets, we may resort to their treatment (curettage) or surgical treatment (flap surgery).
