Oral surgery is a branch of dentistry which involves diagnostics, surgery and postoperative treatment of diseases, injuries and conditions affecting the functional and aesthetic aspect of the hard and soft tissues in the jaw (tooth, root, gums and soft tissue of the mouth). Besides its therapeutic objectives, this branch also has preventative aspects. In addition to extraction of teeth and impacted wisdom teeth, the oral surgery attends to injuries of the jawbone and soft tissue infections, tumors and cysts, prosthetic surgery, augmentation of the hard and soft tissues and interventions on a tooth root.
It is important to note that all interventions performed in the office, are done under local anesthesia so the patient is fully functional and mobile at the end of the intervention.
