Abscess incision entails the process of cutting the mucosa or the skin to create an opening through which the drainage of the accumulated pus can take place. The incision is being performed on the tissue in cases when the pus cannot be removed by other means. Abscess in oral area is usually caused by the bacteria coming from the decaying dental pulp. The infection starts inside the pulp and then reaches the periodontal tissue through the top of the tooth root, where, due to the spreading of bacteria, the pus is being formed. If it is not treated early on, the infection can grow and create further complications.
