Hard and soft tissues augmentation in the oral cavity is an important pre surgical procedure when dealing with implants. In cases of an insufficient amount of tissue (hard or soft), the esthetics and patient’s satisfaction may fail. The need for this procedure is often caused by consequences of inflammation, trauma or teeth extraction.
Bone augmentation or adding bone where missing is the standard surgical technique within implantology for lesser bone defects, when resorbable membrane and an artificial bones are used, or when it is being done a couple of months prior to implant placement in order to create the right conditions for their installation.
Soft tissue augmentation is done when there is not enough of it around the implant. It could be done by various methods, at the time of hard tissue augmentation or as a separate procedure after implantation as well as when the implant is opened.
